Why Influential Leaders Sweat the Small Stuff

Great leaders are often acknowledged and praised for having huge vision, far reaching influence, and seeming larger than life. They’re playing the “big game”.

But oddly enough, the journey to this state of influential leadership many times is a paradoxical one.

It happens in hundreds and thousands of mini-opportunities, micro-conversations, and to the un-trained eye- seemingly meaningless relational transactions that take place everyday.

Regardless of where you are on your journey, one catalyst to effectively growing leadership is showing how much you truly care in each of these moments.

Oh yea, you can’t fake this.

Whether you’re leading clients, vendors, employees, teammates, youth, kids, family, etc. – know that every single interaction and engagement counts. The effort and energy you decide to invest, or not invest into something will be hard to detect in the moment (which is why so many decide not to bother) but will have exponential impact in the long run.

To most people, these countless micro-transactions don’t seem like a big deal or priority when compared to their more attractive goals and aspirations of day to day life.

And thus they generally go ignored.

But in my opinion, this skill of sweating the small stuff is one of the greatest intangible assets influential leaders always take the time and energy to honor.

So, what impact did you have on someone’s life today in that seemingly meaningless moment?
